About us > Firm domicile
In spring 2005 we definitely decided to move from the center of our town. Historic building didn’t allow us to expand and problematic stock-keeping in several storages, troubles with supplying and parking just speeded up our decision making.
We were always amazed by the beautifully placed mountain companies when we visited our business partners in Europe, who respected old traditions of skilful watchmakers – farmers. They took care of the farming in summer and in long winter evenings made first clocks. By a coincidence we bought ex-farmers’ building in Přibyslav – about 2 km far away from Nové Město nad Metují. Beautiful place with a view on our highest Czech mountains Krkonoše charmed us so much we didn’t hesitate and started planning and building the future and representative residence of our company like the Swiss’ years ago.
To build a house is a very hard work and who has built something will surely agree with me. New building is 90 meters long and and the area has over 1000 m2, with flooring 2000 m2. We had already had some experiences with reconstructions but not with a building this size. That’s why we invited an architect.
Mgr. A Vít Lukas is young, fearless to experiment, likes to use natural materials such as wood, glass and metal and his experiences got besides others in ateliers of famous Bořek Šípek for whom he worked couple years in Amsterdam. We wanted dynamic, modern and modest building in North style that will fit to hilly countryside in a small village. It seemed like a big challenge but we were surprised how many ideas we had while thinking through details.
During the building process we tried many new structural strategies about what we hadn’t even dreamt about. Glassed-in walls, front made of cembrit cover plates, stone and wooden facing. Inside you can find designate icons that were designed more than 50 years ago – for example sofa of Le Corbusiere, aluminium chairs from Charles and Ray Eames’ who celebrated half century anniversary last year. If you saw them you wouldn’t guess their age that high. But even older are “tonets”, which contrast new tables in display room made of stain steel and white lamina. The pictograms on the doors are also original and were made especially for our company.
We spent three inspiring and interesting building years and I can say for myself that I did enjoy it. Now we have really representative place, united logistics and organized system of particular functioning. The building has thermal insulation above standard and meets our requirements about no dustiness and thanks to its placing is a model for our personal and their tranquil and judicious work.
